Decomposition

In this aspect of the project, decomposition is more than an end—it is a continuous process of transformation. The looped videos show one of the bodies from the digital landscapes in a state of constant mutation, digitally simulating decomposition but reflecting the natural cycle of organic matter.

Unlike static pieces, where transformation is frozen in time, here, the body progressively dissolves, passing through different levels of abstraction until it completely dissipates into the landscape.
In the end, there is no body left, only traces dissolved in the landscape, like an echo fading into the vastness of time.

The matter that was once form now disperses, merging with the terrain as if it had always belonged to it.

It is the inevitable course of existence— to be born, to transform, and finally, to disappear— a line stretching from origin to final silence.

Each form is ephemeral, a fleeting moment of solidity in impermanence. It emerges, takes shape, fragments, and makes way for what comes next, in a continuous cycle where nothing is fixed, and everything is merely a transition to what has yet to be.

Two videos were designed to be projected in a gallery at an extremely slow speed, creating the illusion of a static image, when in reality, they are in constant motion. Each visitor will witness a unique moment, distinct from what another observer will see, weaving an analogy to the imperceptible transformation of our own body— a continuous change that happens every instant, even without us realizing it.

The Dissolution of the Body

The accelerated speed in this second video creates an intentional discomfort, reminding us of our lack of control over our own fragility. Matter is not static—it is always changing, even when our eyes can´t perceive it.

Here, decomposition does not merely signify disappearance but an inevitable fusion between being and environment, where each fragment endures only long enough to transform into something else.

The sound composition is characterized by a minimalist and deeply atmospheric approach, designed to enhance the sensory and immersive experience of the exhibition.

It balances low, sustained frequencies, creating a reverberant atmosphere reminiscent of subterranean or cavernous spaces, with subtle and organic sonic textures composed of short, granular transients, such as small clicks or crackles, suggesting natural elements in decomposition.

The contained dynamics, punctuated by strategic silences, highlight emptiness as an intentional expressive resource, also explored in the Corpuscapes pieces, reinforcing the concept of absence and impermanence.

This contrast between the weight of deep bass tones and the delicacy of granular textures amplifies the perception of space and time, underlining the beauty and fragility of decomposition portrayed in the exhibition.

In the end, there is no distinction between body and landscape, between presence and absence. Only continuous mutation, where existence is but a fleeting moment.
